Of course he loves his husband Paul, daughter Jen and her progeny Ani and Storm, and his dogs Baxter and Daulton. He is passionate about making the world a better place, equal rights for everyone, Quorum (the GLBTA chamber of commerce), and cooking and entertaining at his foo foo candlelit dinners.

Mike Cassidy, CFP® ~
Prince of Planning
Partner and Income Tax Specialist
CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™
email
From the tiny burg of Elk Mound, Wisconsin, Mike’s arrival to the Twin Cities colony began a varied financial career, having now spanned 18 years for taxes and 13 years for financial services. He portends ROR as a piece in an expansive puzzle that interlocks with other professional businesses. On the magical state of affairs at ROR, he imparts that, “Believe it or not ~ it’s fun to work with tax accountants!” He revels in its quality, size, each and every co-worker, and the wonderfulness of ROR’s clients.
Other jewels in Mike C’s crown include key positions with Project 515, DIVA|MN, HRC, Heartland AIDS Rides, and American Expresses’ PRIDE Network. You might glimpse him being outdoors (trying) to stay fit, living in the Gayborhood of North Minneapolis, enjoying restaurants “too much” and relentlessly renovating his boyfriend’s (Alan) home to maintain his status as honorary lesbian with many tools.
Speaking of tools, Mike C brings many of them to ROR. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, they include retirement and education planning, as well as individual tax planning and preparation.
Declaration of royal treatment ~ "I pledge to not just prepare your taxes, but to look for opportunities in your situation that will better your life. I will also do my best to take the pain out of getting your taxes done!”

Mike Simon ~
Jedi Knight
Partner and Income Tax Specialist
email
Once upon a time, a farm boy from the small village of Elk Mound, WI set out for the large city of Madison, where he hoped to discover what kind of adventure life held in store for him. After several years of studying and carousing, he met a very nice lady from Minneapolis. The Lady Jen joined our hero (?) on a long winding road through marriage, post-college employment hardship, the birth of two children, and a career in news radio before encouraging him to go back to school for accounting so that he could join her father’s tax firm in the even bigger city of Minneapolis.
While the ever-after part of the story remains to be written, we do find Mike S very happily using his research expertise to help find the best possible tax situation for his clients. “One of the things I like most about working in the tax field is that every time a new client sits down with me, my job completely changes. No two tax situations are alike, and it’s fun to develop a customized plan for each client so they can achieve the goals they’ve set for themselves.”
The three most precious gems in Mike’s life are The Lady Jen (17 years of marriage and counting), and their two princesses, Ani and The Storm. He pretends to enjoy home improvement projects, biking and fitness, but is really more into good food and wine.
Mike S focuses on tax planning and preparation for individuals, families, partnerships, and corporations.
Declaration of royal treatment ~ "I pledge to work as hard as possible so my clients’ tax planning is comfortable, trouble-free, and even fun."

“I love having other tax professionals with which to consult and enjoy this merry band of coworkers and clients.” You might catch him away from the Land of ROR rollerblading, reading, crocheting, or working out.
Declaration of royal treatment ~ "I pledge to draw upon all my resources and experience to make the odyssey of your tax journey work to your utmost good.”

Troy Bruggemeier ~
Sultan of Service
Client Services Manager
email
Hailing from the world of finance via Ameriprise Financial, Troy joins our firm as the Client Service Manager for our financial planning and investment management practice of ROR. When he started his finance career in 2000, Troy had no clue the many hats he would wear; from a mutual fund trader, to an advisor and eventually a regional director, his focus has always been to provide the client with the best experience possible. As a member of the financial planning practice, Troy works with Mike Cassidy in reviewing client investments, helping to keep our clients on track to meet their financial goals, and ultimately ensuring the client’s expectations are met by providing premium service.
In addition to his passion for finance, Troy also enjoys volunteering in both the local and national LGBT community. He has been the chairperson for the local and national chapter of Ameriprise Financial’s LGBT employee network (PRIDE Network) and continues to work with their marketing and leadership team to help the company serve its LGBT clients. He also gives his time and expertise to the Minnesota AIDS Project.
Born and raised in Minnesota, Troy currently resides in St. Louis Park. When not volunteering in the community, you can find him walking or biking around Lake Calhoun, playing softball with the TCGSL in NE Minneapolis, or just enjoying time with friends and family over a glass of wine.
Declaration of royal treatment ~ "I pledge to be a steward to our community and always remember our clients are paramount to our success, and therefore, ensure you will receive the personalized, premium service you come to expect."

Paul Vetsch ~
Wizard of Withholding
Income Tax Specialist
email
A native of Minnesota, Paul grew up just outside the Twin Cities in the small farming community of Albertville. He earned his BA in Accounting just a short drive up Interstate 94 at St. John’s University. Since graduating he’s done everything from preparing corporate financial statements at Cargill to bookkeeping for small businesses and now he’s taking his first steps into the world of personal income taxes. He is also ROR’s resident health insurance producer through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of MN.
When he’s not pushing pencils or fidgeting with spreadsheets, he can usually be found riding his bike to or from work, networking at the latest Twin Cities Quorum event or planning his next trip overseas. From Argentina to Dubai to Tibet, he’s been lucky enough to see some exotic corners of the globe and he’s always looking for suggestions on where to go next.
Declaration of royal treatment ~ "I pledge to make tax time stress free by preparing your taxes accurately and efficiently in a relaxed and nerdy atmosphere."
"Tiaras optional."
